Senior Economist Jobs 2026 – Office of the Treasury Registrar (OTR)
The Public Service Recruitment Secretariat (PSRS) on behalf of the Office of the Treasury Registrar (OTR) invites applications from qualified and experienced Tanzanian public servants to apply for the position of Senior Economist. A total of two (2) vacancies are available for professionals with expertise in economics, investment planning, policy analysis, and monitoring and evaluation.
The Senior Economist will support the Office of the Treasury Registrar in reviewing economic plans, analysing investment programmes, coordinating performance monitoring, and providing economic advice for public and statutory corporations.

Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:
- Reviewing Medium Term Expenditure Frameworks (MTEF) for public and statutory corporations.
- Coordinating reviewed corporate plans and annual budgets of public and statutory corporations and recommending them for approval.
- Developing investment plans for public and statutory corporations and recommending them for approval.
- Collecting and evaluating various planning reports from public and statutory corporations and providing appropriate advice.
- Reviewing and advising on policy papers prepared by Public Institutions and Statutory Corporations.
- Preparing memoranda of understanding for projects and programmes financed through international sources.
- Monitoring and evaluating activities and targets of the Office of the Treasury Registrar.
- Coordinating parliamentary matters related to the Office of the Treasury Registrar.
- Performing other duties related to the field as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must be currently employed in the Public Service.
- Must hold a Bachelor Degree in any of the following fields:
- Economics
- Agricultural Economics
- Or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
- Must have at least seven (7) years of working experience in a related field.
