Namtumbo District Council has announced two (2) Driver Grade II vacancies for qualified Tanzanian citizens. The positions are part of the council's latest employment opportunities for 2026.
Position: Driver Grade II
Number of Vacancies: 2 Posts
Salary Scale: TGS B
Duties and Responsibilities
A successful Driver Grade II will be responsible for:
- Inspecting the assigned vehicle before and after journeys to ensure it is safe for use.
- Transporting government employees to different locations on official duties.
- Performing minor vehicle maintenance when required.
- Collecting and delivering official documents and other materials.
- Maintaining cleanliness of the assigned vehicle.
- Recording and maintaining journey information in the vehicle logbook.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants must have a Form Four (Form IV) Certificate and a valid Class C or Class E driving licence.
In addition, applicants must:
- Have at least one year of driving experience without causing an accident.
- Possess certificates showing the relevant training that qualified them to obtain the respective driving licence class.
- Have completed a Basic Driving Course offered by VETA or another government-recognized institution.
General Conditions
Applicants must be Tanzanian citizens aged 18 to 45 years. People with disabilities are encouraged to apply and should specify their type of disability in the recruitment system.
Applicants must submit a detailed CV containing their reliable address, active telephone numbers, email address and details of three trustworthy referees.
Relevant academic and professional certificates must be certified and attached to the application. Testimonials, provisional results, statements of results and Form IV/Form VI results slips will not be accepted.
Applicants who obtained qualifications outside Tanzania must have their certificates verified and authenticated by the appropriate authorities, including TCU, NECTA or NACTE, where applicable.
Driver applicants must ensure that they attach the driving training certificates that enabled them to obtain their Class C or E licence.
Providing false information or forged certificates is prohibited and may result in legal action.
